New CIO Suggestions
Every spring, 1Ls clamor for CIO exec board positions to become more involved, pursue their interests, and above all else, pad their resumes before they start applying to summer associate positions. Some students unfortunately will not be elected to their desired positions, but not all hope is lost. If you act fast, there’s still time to create your own CIO just in time for application season. If you’re looking for inspiration, here are some ideas to get you started. We hope these ideas help spur your imagination and encourage you to get involved and contribute to our vibrant school community!
Virginia Law Sparkling Water Society
The Virginia Law Wine Society has dominated the beverage club market for far too long. There is a ripe opportunity to compete with the largest CIO at school with a non-alcoholic alternative. Is Saratoga the best sparkling water to rinse your face in your morning routine? Is San Pellegrino worth the exorbitant upcharge? Start this club to find out!
Virginia Law Music Society
While most of us have been listening to Playboi Carti on repeat since his recent return, some students enjoy more homegrown talent. Members of this club will listen to the array of music coming out of the law school: 2L Brad Lewinski’s melodic beats, Thomas Frampton’s crooning rhythms, and more!
Virginia Law Politically Apathetic Society
What better way to signal to BigLaw partners that you are fully comfortable having no opinions of your own, than by starting this club? Members of this club will be surrounded by other like-minded people who choose not to participate in the squabbles of the current political climate.
Virginia Law Vice President’s Club
Want the prestige of a board position without any of the nagging work that comes along with it? This CIO is for you! Every member will hold the title of Vice President to fulfill your resume boosting needs. The club will not actually do anything, making it the perfect addition to your schedule. Here you’ll find other like-minded students to bond over your pursuit of clout.
Virginia Law Undergraduate Mentorship Club
This CIO seeks to pair current law students with undergraduates at UVA who are interested in law school. Members will provide guidance and advice for students interested in joining our learned profession. This organization is also known by its unofficial name, the UVA Law Singles Society.
