And the Winner of the Docket Duel Is…
Do I hear a drum roll?!?! Well, stop it. This is no surprise announcement. The winner of the Docket Duel is none other than the indefatigable Professor Mitu Gulati. Professor Gulati has persisted at the top of the chart since October, after a very brief stint in second place. With this being our last issue of the semester, Mitu is hereby crowned the KING of the Docket. Please clap.
While King Mitu’s victory is no surprise, there were some upsets. Professor Daniel Citron lost her spot on the chart to Professor Ashley Deeks, concluding their deadly dance for Docket domination. And Professor Saikrishna Prakash not only maintained his spot on the chart but moved up a rank to the number four position (much like a certain law school’s recent ranking in a certain popular listing…).
Perhaps most shocking of all is Professor Amanda Frost’s dramatic ascension to a tied second place with Professor Naomi Cahn. Cahn had held the number two spot consistently since October, after losing the lead to King Mitu.
An underdog who, by our count, made her first Docket appearance for the 2024-25 academic year in December, Professor Frost emerged as a top-five contender in March, propelled by a sudden interest in immigration law scholarship. I wonder what’s up with that?! At this rapid pace, Frost might have been on her way to an upset victory over King Mitu. But in the end, she and Professor Cahn fell just four points short.
Some other fun stats about our (more-or-less accurate) Docket data: There are seventy-three professors in our dataset, and the average number of Docket appearances is about four, with a median of just two. Numbers!!
In closing, congratulations to the Docket King, Professor Mitu Gulati. A big thank you to Mike Fox and the UVA Law media relations team for their hard work to get the Docket out every day. And a final thank you to all five of our readers who have tuned in for these updates.
