Welcome to Spring

Last Tuesday, April 1, the Student Bar Association (SBA) and the First Year Council teamed up to throw a Spring Carnival—the perfect way to take a break before the stress of exams set in. It was a day full of sunshine, good vibes, and a chance to finally enjoy the warmer weather and the blooming trees in Spies Garden.

The carnival had something for everyone. There was free food, including popcorn and cotton candy that had everyone feeling like a kid again. For those looking to relive childhood memories, classic games like cornhole and parachute made an appearance, and students couldn't help but get a little competitive with each other.

The real fun kicked off when tickets were sold for the chance to “pie a professor.” Professors Mitchell, Frampton, and Strauss bravely volunteered to get pied by students gunning at the chance to take out some of that pre-exam stress. All the pie ticket sales proceeds went to Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle, a local nonprofit offering English literacy and ESL tutoring to those in need. It was the perfect way to combine a fun day with giving back to the local community.

Overall, the Spring Carnival was a much-needed break from the looming end of the semester, providing respite to unwind with friends, enjoy some fun activities, and support a great cause.
